About

What is an edCamp?
edCamp is an "Unconference."

What is an "Unconference?"
Come enjoy a day with colleagues from the Milwaukee area and beyond.  Participants are encouraged to come with an idea for a session to lead or anticipation for a full day of learning.  A session could potentially explore anything related to education.  A session might explore a technology tool, a discussion about best practices or a collaborative presentation with multiple facilitators.

The first session of the day will be where all attendees can share and/or listen to ideas for the rest of the sessions to be offered that day.  The two videos linked below explain the edCamp concept.

Will credits be offered?
Unfortunately, no.  edCamp is purely a "come and learn" day of activities.

What should I bring?
Bring a laptop.  Wireless access will be available.

How much does edCampMKE cost?
The edCamp model is envisioned as free.  Currently, the organizers are seeking sponsors to cover the costs of breakfast food, lunch, other overhead costs and t-shirts.  If you know a company that would like to help sponsor edCampMKE, please direct them to our Sponsors page where they can contact us.  Depending on sponsorships, we will announce if edCampMKE will be free or at a cost at registration time.

Where did the idea for edCamp come from?
Kristen Swanson, one of the original edCamp founders, shares what edCamp is in this TEDxPhiladelphiaED talk from July 2011.
